A Canberra Woody Meadow

I designed, built and maintained this woody meadow at the University of Canberra. Woody meadows are diverse shrub plantings maintained by hard pruning to 20cm. Hard pruning promotes flowering and creates dense canopies to exclude weeds. This project aimed to demonstrate that woody meadows are suitable for the Canberra environment.

Woody meadows are low maintenance, beautiful and full of flowers for birds and insects.
